Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the PetekMind app for Android does with your data. It also covers the petekmind.com website.
Who we are
The PetekMind app is made and published by Ege Ünlü, an individual developer (“we”, “us”). For any question about this policy or your data, email hello@petekmind.com.
What the app stores on your phone
The app keeps the following only on your device:
- Your chats, chat settings and app settings.
- Photos and documents you attach to messages, and images you create in the app.
- The AI models you download.
- If you pair with a PetekMind Hub: the Hub’s address, an access token (kept in Android’s encrypted storage) and a random ID the app makes so the Hub recognizes your phone when you pair again.
We don’t have a copy of any of this, and we can’t see it. When you use an AI model on the phone, it runs entirely on the phone.
What leaves your phone, and where it goes
The app only sends data to these places, and only when you use the matching feature:
- Your PetekMind Hub. If you pair the app with a Hub, the messages and attachments you send in Hub chats go to that Hub to be answered. When you pair, the app also sends your phone’s name (for example “Xiaomi 15T”), its Android version and the random ID above. The Hub keeps a usage log of each request (which model, how long it took, how many words it used), but not what you wrote. The Hub runs on a computer that you or your organization controls, on your local network; we don’t operate it. If the Hub belongs to your employer or someone else, their own rules apply to it. The connection to the Hub stays on your local network, so use it on networks you trust, such as your home or office Wi-Fi.
- Web search, if it’s turned on. When web search is set up on the Hub and the AI decides to search, the search query goes from the Hub to Tavily, an outside search service, and the Hub may open the web pages it finds. This is the only part of PetekMind where text from your chats goes to the internet. Tavily’s privacy policy applies to those queries.
- Hugging Face, for model downloads. To list and download AI models, the app connects to huggingface.co. Hugging Face sees your IP address and which files you download, as with any download. The app doesn’t send your chats or any account details there. Hugging Face’s privacy policy applies.
- Android backup. If you’ve turned on backup in Android’s settings, Android may include the app’s data in your backup to your Google account. Android and Google control this, not us, and you can turn it off in your phone’s settings.
What we don’t do
- We don’t ask you to create an account or sign in.
- The app doesn’t contain analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking tools.
- We don’t send your chats to any cloud AI provider.
- We don’t sell or share your data, because we don’t collect it.
Permissions
- Camera: to scan the Hub’s QR code when pairing, and to take a photo for a message. Only when you choose to.
- Photos and files: to attach the photos and documents you pick. The app only gets the files you select.
- Internet and local network: to download models, and to find and connect to your Hub on your Wi-Fi.
You can refuse or remove any permission in Android’s settings. The rest of the app keeps working.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your phone until you delete it:
- Delete a chat from the chat list. It’s removed from the phone permanently.
- Delete downloaded models on the Models screen.
- Use “Forget this hub” in Settings to unpair the phone from a Hub.
- Uninstall the app to remove everything it stored on the phone.
Chats you had through a Hub are answered there, and the Hub’s owner manages its usage log and paired devices. Since we hold no data from the app, there’s nothing for us to delete, but you can always email hello@petekmind.com with questions.
For businesses
Many businesses can’t send customer, patient or employee data to cloud AI servers in other countries, because laws such as the GDPR in Europe and KVKK in Türkiye limit cross-border transfers. With PetekMind, chats are answered on your own phone or on your own Hub, so they stay on your hardware and in your country, and no outside AI provider receives them. The exceptions are web search (if you turn it on) and model downloads, described above. Whether your setup meets the rules that apply to you depends on how you use it. This section isn’t legal advice.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR and KVKK give you rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct and delete it. The app’s data is on your own devices, where you control it directly. For anything we hold about you (such as a waitlist email), email hello@petekmind.com and we’ll answer within 30 days.
Children
PetekMind isn’t made for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them. The app collects no personal data from anyone.
The petekmind.com website
The website works differently from the app. It uses PostHog analytics, which sets cookies to count visits and see how people use the site, and stores that data in the United States. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address with Supabase, on servers in Ireland, and use it only to contact you about PetekMind. To have your email removed, write to hello@petekmind.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update it on this page and change the date at the top. If a change affects what the app does with your data, we’ll also say so in the app or in its release notes.
